Mounting DSLR

Recommended Posts

Shouldn't be any problem at all. However you will have to rebalance the scope in the mount with the camera attached. Often it is better to have the scope turned so the camera is on the same side of the scope as the dovetail bar. This reduces the need to move the counterweights out too far (or have to add another weight).

It shouldn't "bend" the tube - but you may have a little "in focus" problem. Several solutions are available - use a barlow, get a low profile focuser, move the primary up the tube a bit. You'll just have to try it and see - you might be lucky and get away with no modification at all :glasses1:

It seems to be my message of the day... with SkyWatcher and Celestron newts (maybe others?) you can unscrew the EP holder from the focusser and screw the t-ring directly on from there. Gives enough back focus - even for a Nikon DSLR - and jobs a good 'un.
