M46 and NGC2438

After a session on the moon last night, I thought I'd have my first attempt at M46 and the planetary neb NGC 2438 . Despite the really bright moonglow and its low altitude just above the nearby rooftops (about 20°), I'm quite pleased and surprised at how much detail and colour I've managed to capture here. On the original, I can just make out the 17.7 mag central star of NGC 2438.

Thats splendid Luke especially from UK lat, that pn has always intrigued me, it is not connected with the cluster and is a little smaller than M57. I had a go at a close up of the pn as its quite colourful. It must be only 23deg alt and your getting some good star colour.

John.
