my neighbour went out a put black tape around the upper edge to stop the light coming off at 90 degrees and it's made a huge difference

I have considered blacking out the side of the glass shade to prevent light shining out at 90 degrees, but its quite a tall streetlight !!!! I'll have to pluck-up some courage ....
