Tripod foundations?

Recommended Posts

The best viewing place in my back garden is in the middle of a lawn and my heavy NEQ6 mount needs some kind of foundation a. so that the tripod doesn't sink into the ground and b. to provide a 'ball park' direction for polar aligning every time I set up. I am thinking of something that is not going to affect mowing so three 'cups' or bricks of some sort sunk into the ground would seem ideal. Has anybody done anything like this?
