Broken Lenses

Hi,

I had a misfortune whilst observing the Moon the other evening.

I don't need glasses to use a telescope, so I took them off

and put them on my stool and promptly sat on them, destroyed.

New varifocal lenses must be made from FL53 glass or made

in Chester NY USA, frightening the price.

Two pairs for the price of one. One pair £285, two pairs

£472, I have not worked it out yet either.

Sorry to hear about that :)

Will insurance help out here ?

Had something similar happen with my wifes glasses last year (non-astronomy related !) and we had to just find the first £50.

Hope you get sorted soon.

1. Varifocals are horrid for astronomy!

2. Invest in a lanyard (around $2) so you can just let your glasses dangle from your neck when not in use. No danger of sitting on them, and no searching around for them either.
