Help needed

Hi all.

I'm a complete noob to astronomy let alone astrophotography so i'm looking for advice as to what kit i'll need to get started on astrophotography.

any advice would be welcome and much appreciated.

Not an imager myself, but I think an ED80 on a HEQ5 with DSLR is regarded as the basic entry level kit. Excluding the cost of a DSLR, the set up cost just under £1k.

What's your budget anyway?

Or you could bring the cost down a bit with a modified webcam (if you can find one s/h). I saw one go for £65 a week or two ago

The cost can also be brought down a lot by buying second-hand (my mount is second-hand and I'm thrilled with it). If you already own a DSLR, they are a great option for astrophotography. These are often up for sale second-hand too, presumably as people switch to CCD. I'm lucky enough to borrow a camera from a friend, still don't own my own!

my budget is around the £1500 mark but could stretch a little further if needed.
