Cheap digital camera recommendations?

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a good, cheap, digital camera to take Astro pics with!?

I've been looking around but really can't make my mind up!

I probably cant be of much help but whats your budget ? Is it purely for astro or as a general camera as well ?

Whats your target, planets/lunar or the fainter objects like nebulae etc.

Ye I should have mentioned that! Haha

Around £100 and was hoping to get both planets and deep space stuff. It would mainly be for my telescope.

Do you think I'd be better off with a modified web cam?

Possibly, a non modified can be got for about a tenna, that will do fine for the planets and the moon. For DSO's you will need either modified or a proper camera.

The imaging itself is quite a different experience. Obviously with a webcam you need a computer with you.

Others will give better advice on budget cameras, I think 100 may be a little too low to pickup a canon eos dslr, which is my recommendation. The 300d and 350d are probably just out of range, particularly if you include the adapters needed to connect it.

You may JUST get a well used Cannon 1000D body only for around £100 if you are really lucky. You don't need lenses if you are going to attach it to your scope.
