More Synscan Problems

Continuing Synscan problems

Apparently Synscan version 03.06 has a known “bug” causing “locking up of some functions after accessing the SAO catalogue.

According to the Skywatcher website Version 03.07 fixes this, so I have downloaded the software from the Skywatcher website as per instructions.

Unfortunately the program will not run on either of my PCs despite Skywatcher stating that it will run on Windows95 or later

One of my PCs runs Windows 98, the other Windows Vista.

Both systems say that they do not recognise the program (SynscanV0307AZ.ssf).

Increasingly frustrated.

The file synscanV307AZ.ssf is the firmware file that needs to be uploaded onto the handset. For this you need the firmware uploader program available from Skywatcher by following this link Firmware uploader V3.0. Go to the page and also download the EQ Firmware update instructions sheet. The method of updating the firmware on the AZ handset is the same as the EQ.

The manual didn't say much about the uploader program- and it wasn't obvious from the Skywacther site.
