Choice of first Scope - Nexstar 4se etc

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Another newbie who has watched stargazing live.

Have done a bit of astrophotography in Arizona at Dark Sky site.

Anyway I have a Canon 7d so idealy would like to do some better astro & start out with a telescope.

I am looking at about £400 and am looking at following.

Skywatcher sky max 127 sync scan

Celestron Nexstar 127

These seem to be same spec but Celestron is cheaper. Also looking at the Nexstar 4Se

Also considering Newtonians

Skywatcher Explorer 130

Celestron Nexstar 130

So sorry about the usual question but any help would be very very useful.

:)

hello welcome to the site the usual advice is to get the biggest apparture that is comfortable for you. this advice changes however if you wish to take photographs as for this the most important thing is the mount. there isn't a cheap way to do astrophotograhy on deep space objects. wide field is possible with a dslr planetary is possible with a webcam but for nebulas etc you need a very good mount to start with. if however you are interested in mainly visual work a good way to get more apparture for your money is to get a reflector on a dobsonion mount. this one is excellent and is big enough to get good views of most things Dobsonians - Skywatcher Skyliner 200P Dobsonian this one is probably the best scope on an eq mount Reflectors - Skywatcher Explorer 200P EQ5 and this one is merely very good and will leave you a little change for eyepieces Reflectors - Skywatcher Explorer 150P EQ3-2 once again welcome
