Toucam RAW Mod. Is it worthwhile?

Been plotting a do at Saturn and came across the RAW Mod. for the webcam. Anybody got any experience before and after? I've already screwed one webcam up by assuming that the red USB wire would be positive and the black one negative and smouldering it up backwards. The replacement is a Toucam Pro if that makes a difference.

I read its only reall of any use if you have a black & White CCD not the original colour one.

Tried it a few times CC but not a lot of difference either way with my camera

the idea of the RAW mod is to get raw data, so colour or bw makes no difference. With colour though you will have to debayer the images yourself.

Personally, with a bw I would go for it (the lack of "ears" on stars alone is worth it), with a colour then no - not worth the hassle. Make sure you save an EPROM dump so you can return the camera to standard if you mess up!
