Welcome to SGL. The Tasco should be fine for wide field viewing, especially if you get a decent eyepiece for it. It is less suitable for high magnification, but certainly a nice start to a hobby, but you may catch aperture fever!

I remember the guy who sold it to me emphasized the fact that I'd need better eyepieces.

When the weather clears up and I can actually use the thing, I'll get an idea of what the supplied eyepieces are like, and then think about replacing them.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone. I've been using the downtime with the weather to search these forums for advice, of which, there seems to be plenty.

As enthusiast/hobbyist forums go, this seems to be one of the more friendly ones.
