Bahtinov mask & focal reducer

I have a cpc800 with a focal ratio of f/10 I have seen a batinhov mask that states f/10. I also have a focal reducer that changes the scope to f/6.3 will the mask work the same at these different focal ratios.

I believe that, in theory at least, the Bahtinov mask will be different for different focal lengths/ratios. However there have been threads on here where folk say masks will still work with the "wrong" scope. As they are so easy to make - a crude one cut from black paper will work as a test piece - you may want to try it out.

I have made my own from a piece of plastic and some foam blocks and it works very well indeed - cost around 50p!!:

My homemade ones have all worked and none of which are truly to the exact "spec", one I even halved the number of slots as the template gave me far too many to do by hand.

Don't worry, get a template for the aperture you have and make it, it will work.

So I just need it for aperture and not focal length

I have a NS 8GPS. My focal reducer arrived this morning, and I have a Bahtinov mask on order. With a bit of luck it might arrive in todays post (fingers crossed), or inbetween XMas and New Year.

I'm hoping it will work too!
