Anyone here from Luton?

I'm just curious - I'm new to the board and although I was born and raised in Luton, I now live in Louisville, Kentucky.

I used to be a member of the Luton Astronomical Society in the 80's. We used to meet in a room on the 1st floor of what used to be the tec in the town centre (opposite the Arndale) - I think it's the University of Luton now.

Anyway, shout if you're Lutonian!

I lived in Luton till around 6 months ago! My Father used to teach in that college. I don't live far from there now though.

I lived there for about 16 years - went to the 6th form college as well. Now living in sunny Hertfordshire. Still have family in Luton. I can confirm you're not missing much

ROFL - when I introduce myself here in the US, people always ask where I come from in England. Of course, they've rarely heard of Luton. I just tell 'em it was the town that was voted the Worst Place To Live In England back in the 90's LOL

Richard - I was there 84-86. i stuck it out and have two A levels which i can safely say made no real difference! I did make a lot of good friends though

You left the year before I came along... I don't know why I bothered, to be honest, because I had no intention of going to Uni and spending the next X years in education (and racking up a pretty hefty debt in the process)

I dropped out on Friday Jan 13th 1989 LOL I was going to be taking my mocks that week and I just didn't bother. I knew I had no chance. I would say I wasted a couple of years and it set my career back by a few more years too, but ultimately I've done okay.
