A swift M42

Taken the other night as M42 appeared between the trees! 8x 2 min lights 10 each darks and flats at ISO 800 SW 200P and Canon 100D. Unguided. Very noisy, overexposed core and lacking in subs but at least I can say I've captured it!

If the weather ever clears I will have a go at doing this "properly".

Very good for an unguided image. Better than my guided version.

Nice image, its sharp and has lots of detail. It looks like you may have over processed it a little, while Im no expert:D the dark areas look too dark and the bright too bright, this could be hiding an awful lot of data. You should try the trial version of Pixinsight, i think you would be surprised with what you have actually captured.
