Predicting the weather with Sat24...

Thats twice in a week (tonight and Friday) where I've had clear skies all night according the the sattelite view and then been rained off when cloud appeared out of nowhere on top of my garden!!

Watching sat24 sometimes you can see clouds bubble up from nowhere.

It's a shame that can't get the same resolution of images for the daytime and night. During the day it's superb, but the IR at night isn't as good, plus it isn't much good for the fog either....

Yes agreed with the IR nighttime view, have been all for a good nights viewing only to walk outside and nothing but clouds . I now scrutinise the display with care and this has made life a lot easier. Went out tonight, clear skies and was great but had to finish a lot earlier than expected, the telescopes became covered in frost and it was getting silly.

Yes, I have had it both ways, a crystal clear night when the Sat showed solid cover and also the reverse, but I do think it is about the best short term indicator.

Ive almost stoped using Sat24... I donth think it is that acqurate. Try MeteoBlue.

I normally go from MB to Metcheck and then to Metoffice, and i normally get a fairly good idea of what is happening....

Or maybe its just luck

I am a bit like keiran. I go on metcheck to see if its worth getting off the chair. Then check the bbc and weather channel. Then look at the sky to see if any of them are close. If it seems to be worth setting up I use Sat24 to try and predict what will happen in the next hour or two.

I will give that Meteoblue site a try though. The more info the better
