Webcam, software and motor drives.

Hi all,

I've seen complete EQ drive kits for around £300. Just Dec and RA drives are £90. Is it possible to use a standard webcam with some laptop software to drive these 2 motors for tracking ?

If so, then what is required, and can the image from the webcam still be used at the same time for capture....

Here is link to the Shoestring astronomy website which gives information on adding an ST4 port to the standard dual axis handcontrol. This conversion allows autoguiding software to control the mount. I don't think imaging and autoguiding with a webcam at the same time is possible.

Thanks for the link, i'll take an indepth read of it...

I've a small 3" newt, so maybe use that to track and the 8" for images...
