PEC training

Has anyone found that PEC training is really nessesary for their Synscan while doing long exposure astrophotography?

i find it makes quite a big difference with my lx90

You need to find out how it performs without the PEC. If you have PE, then its time to strip and regrease the mount, try the PEC again and train it if necessary. Never bothered with mine, through sheer sloth it must be said. Some HEQ5s and EQ6s have had issues with grease that freezes in the cold so that could be an issue with yours. There are loads of websites detailing this if you Google or search in here.
