How I professionally found IC 4665

Recommended Posts

Right, this all started with me getting my telescope on our porch, I didn't have to to go outside or travel to a field, so I thought, it couldn't be that bad from the 4th floor of a flat. Since I'm still a beginner, i haven't seen the highlights of the sky yet, not even the ring nebula yet. However I've found M31, Double Cluster, M25 (not that fancy with a bad quality 10mm and a decent 25mm) which I got quite a lot of stars out with painfully averted vision. My goal was M11, Wild Duck.

So, I got it out, easily found so called Orphicus which I was obviously searching for. Then I looked at what I thought was the right spot, after 10 or so minutes, found IC 4665, which I thought to be the Wild Duck cluster, and thought "The sketches looked a lot nicer, hmm.."

Went to check stellarium, looked at constellations, and finally figured out that it was IC4665. I didn't have much time to go look for The Ducky, so I packed up stuff and left.

As I've been told, I should really get a better 10mm, and maybe something inbetween 10mm and 25mm.
