Canon Rebel?

Can anyone tell me what is this "Rebel" thing is and is it any good for astrophotograpy, also when buying a camera (Canon 300D) are there any things I should be aware of, i.e extras that I will need or find useful/useless.

the rebel is simply the american name for the silver (or black, whichever ISN'T the standard colour) 300D (I think).

It's surely to be good for astrophotography, although I'm not experienced. It seems like a lot of imagers use the 300D. If you're only going to be using it for astro, you won't need the lens. All you'll need is a camera adapter and the canon AF T2 ring (both available here: http://tinyurl.com/y87njm (I just picked up my T2 ring (finally) from Jessops today for just £6. See if your local jessops will also give you that kind of price)) and you'll be ready for imaging (give or take a few filters, tripod maybe)

The RC1 infared remote control is quite important for the bulb setting.
