hello,

we have a partial solar eclipse coming up on jan 4th and from our location on the east coast the sun will rise from the sea (cloud permitting ;-( as a sharks fin.

now i currently have no specialist solar gear but want to take some pictures. with a 300mm lense on a 350d, if i leave the camera to decided on a shutter time would any damaged be cause to the ccd and what sort of image am i likely to get? should i consider some solar film?

im thinking of trying a couple of test sunrises to get things sorted but dont want to risk the camera if im likely to do damage!

matt
