I rather invest some time on the Vacuum Mylar mirror ( or thin glass plate under vacuum) as a cheap large light bucket solution.

It seems to be a Mersenne type telescope, in that it doesn't produce an image. Whether that implementation would work I'm not sure; you'd need to ray-trace it to find out. Doesn't look like the chap has done that, just thought about it at very basic geometric level.

Interesting concept anyway. I've never seem that suggested anywhere else before. I wouldn't suggest trying to built it though!
