Is this sturdy enough to do photography + extra weight of eye pieces, dew cap etc?

This is similar to the Celestron CG5 GOTO, this has a spec of 12,5Kg. Load bearing was covered by FLO (Steve) under the CG5GT sale item, Sponsors Announcements on the 19 Aug last HTH.

I've had a camcorder, a fuji S56000 hanging off baader hyperions on mine with no problems, along with telrad, dew shields etc etc with no probs.

I think the EQ5 has a load bearing rating of about 9 to 10 kgs, slightly less than the CG5. Saying that, like Dion mine seems very solid even with a 200P plus finder, telrad, heavy EP, dew shield, which all takes the total weight of my usual setup to just over 10 kg!

Mind you I guess for imaging to be really successful the more steady the mount the better..!

Mind you, again, my 200P is now quite happy on a homemade dob mount so I only use the EQ5 for the Mak!

+1 Read with interest as was thinking of putting a 5" frac or 6" Newt on my GP.

Don't forget the weight of the guides scope, less of a problem on a side by side plate if you can do it.
