Imaging Jupiter

Recommended Posts

Well I finally got a clear enough night to go out and test my new fusion webcam but no matter how I adjusted the settings on open capture all I got was a washed out ball with absolutely no surface detail. The settings I used were as follows...

Exposure:1/30s

Gain:352

Brightness:7294

Contrast:2784

Saturation:300

Sharpness:0

White Balance:4700

Gamma:1000

Backlight Comp:0

These are the settings a guy on the internet called Gary Honis used and he got some half decent images despite poor seeing. The images I am getting are devoid of even the slightest hint of detail. I have spent ages minutely adjusting focus and playing around with every combination of settings and exposure times but nothing works.

I am imaging with a Celestron Omni 120.

Any help would be really appreciated

Cheers
