Thanks for the comments. At the moment the regime is going to bed at a reasonable hour (say midnight) and getting up for the 4-5:30 run, then back to bed for a couple of hours. Gives me a decent amount of sleep but I'm hating it. For some reason it's not working and I feel a weird sort of tired quite unlike the sort I had at the start of the month when I had very little sleep for a couple of weeks.

My sleep patterns are totally screwed up which I think the medical profession says is very bad for you. I must remember to tell Patrick that :D
