Help with video converter

Hi all, I have been using registax 5 to process images taken with my webcam and up until now it's been working perfectly. I was using a free wmv to avi converter but now the free trial is up. I've tried downloading all sorts of wmv to avi converters but whenever I use them and open the file in registax I get the error message "failed to open avi file: CLASSNOTREG ERROR".

Ive tried using virtual dub, saving the file as an old avi format but nothing is working, If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it

I can't give you an answer to your conversion problem but why aren't you recording as AVI ?

Are you using the capture software that came with your webcam, if so try using the free download wxAstroCapture
