A big thanks to kniclander ( a really nice bloke :D ) for selling this and showing me around it today. All I need is some clear nights to go out and play.

Just giving this thread a little spin

I now have an EQ5 mount :) THANKS Step_Hen

I need tube rings (180) and dovetail for the 150P, if anyone has some cluttering up the place let me know.

The Dob beat the EQ by a small nudge

:D "beat the Dod by a small nudge" ha ha ha solti laughing at his own joke :D

I will now be able to try out both mounts and see which is better for what :)

solti waiting for crazyjedi to go into a spin :D

Dob's work out of the box but an EQ has to be learnt. once you're used to an EQ it's second nature but it won't be as simple to start off as a dob, so no fair. you need to put the dob mount away for a while and learn the EQ set up for a while before you can make a fair comparison!

I think you'll find that dobs are quick to set up and good for DSO's but EQ better for the moon, planets and general tracking over longer periods of time. (when properly aligned) Sounds like a fun project tho, anyone willing to lend me a big Dob so i can do a similar project, feel free to drop me a line!!
