The mirror is already ground to the 1/6PV standard so it isn't quite like starting from a mirror blank. However given that the new mirror set is £670.. it might be cheaper to just sell the 1/6PV mirror set (£250 or more) and apply that to the cost of the new mirror set.

I'll stick to some modest improvements to the exisiting scope for now and see what turns up. It's not as if the scope isn't performing well, I guess it's just the lure of owning and using some truly outstanding optics - maybe that lurks within most astronomers

You will have to spend a lot of money to improve upon the kit you have - with the exception of adding a fan which I guarantee will be the best £10 you ever spend ......

I guess that's the nature of addiction, you're satisfied with what you have for a while, but then you WANT something better even though you don't really need it.
