The mirror is already ground to the 1/6PV standard so it isn't quite like starting from a mirror blank. However given that the new mirror set is £670.. it might be cheaper to just sell the 1/6PV mirror set (£250 or more) and apply that to the cost of the new mirror set.

More interesting ideas coming in - thanks :D

I'll stick to some modest improvements to the exisiting scope for now and see what turns up. It's not as if the scope isn't performing well, I guess it's just the lure of owning and using some truly outstanding optics - maybe that lurks within most astronomers :D

We are all guilty of always chasing more !!!

You will have to spend a lot of money to improve upon the kit you have - with the exception of adding a fan which I guarantee will be the best £10 you ever spend ......

I guess that's the nature of addiction, you're satisfied with what you have for a while, but then you WANT something better even though you don't really need it. :D
