CPC + computer

Hi guys, can you tell me what I need to start using the CPC 925 with my laptop please? What connector do I need to slot into the pc interface port? Thanks Steve

You should have the Nextstar software and a serial cable to go with it. It plugs into the handset, then via a serial/usb connector into the computer. You get a full size icon of the handset on your desktop which responds to mouse clicks instead of button presses

I didn't know that! I link mine the same way but to Starry Night so I still have to adjust/centre on the real handset.

If you don't have a serial port on your PC you need one of these

USB to RS232 - USB Converter Cable: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I use that one on my CPC and SE for controlling via Stellarium and for HC firmware updates and it works well. one of the reviews gives more info about drivers.

I have now managed to get the computer and telescope working after downloading the Celestron drivers from the ascom site. After getting an auto two star alignment it worked like a dream. Does anyone use the PC connector on the telescope hub as opposed to the handset? Steve.

I think the hub connector is for motor control firmware updates.
