Messier 97 with the VC200L

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Another Vixen VC200L shot. This time, M97 at the scopes native focal length. I shot Sii as well, but there isn't enough there to warrent including it (in fact, M97 looks REALLY strange in Hubble Palette I've discovered!)

Ha: 27x600

Oiii: 15x600

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,

Richie

When I did 20 min subs on it with SII there was very very little data produced.

There is a peculiar extra outer layer, and quite possibly another one in OIII. It is the hardest thing I have ever tried to capture, needing a dark sky and no moon and good transparency....(we get loads of those nights dont we.....).

The smudge around one of the stars close to it is actually a little galaxy.

The tube seems to perform pretty well Richie.
