I would like your opinion on my next scope :)

I cannot chose between getting a explorer 300p on a neq6 or a c 9.25 on a cg5. it will be used most of the time for visual work (only sometimes for photographic use). the size and wieght of the ota are not an issue for me. What would you reccomend, the larger 300p or the (apparently better) optics of the smaller C 9.25. there is also the mount to consider..... hmmmmmmm :D

A 300P on a EQ6 mount is not about weight so much as about bulk, it's big and awkward, very cumbersome and at night pretty hard to lift onto the EQ6.

IMO the 9.25 weighs a touch to much to be put on a CG5. If I was you I would go for the 9.25 on the EQ6 now that would be a nice set up.

I recommend giving it a try, putting the 300p on an EQ6. It's not just the lifting it, but slotting the dovetail in and tightening up the clamp whilst not dropping it!

I'm no weightlifter, but I found a 250p on an EQ6 tricky. Also sometimes a stool was needed to reach the eyepiece with the tripod fully extended.

Personally, I would go with the 9.25SCT on an EQ6 (def not a CG5). It's meant to be quite a planet killer too.
