  1. !!!! opinions please !!!! LRGB filter sets,... am about to get either Astrodon LRGB filters: Tru Balance I series : 1.25" or Astronomik LRGB Type IIc. I can get them for about the same price, so I am only concerned about quality. opinions please
  2. I have recently upgraded the camera I have for afocal use from a very cheap, non zoom model, to a canon sx210. the problem is that I cannot get the frame to fill as I could with the old camera. I am using the same telescope (300pds) and eyepieces (Meade series 4000 plossls). With the old camera the lens had a sweet spot a few mm away from the eyepiece which would fill the frame up, trying this at different zoom settings with the new camera gives me only a Small round image of the eyepiece.... what am I missing here?
  3. thank you very much for all of your input, it has been most helpful. I am starting to side with the RC with a longer term view in mind. In about a year i will buy an upgrade mount. The equinox is a good safe bet, but only in the shorter term (for me). Since I have some time I will seek to try both via my local astronomical society, to see the views each can offer. I think that will sway me the most. Until then I will continue to look for more information as and where I find it. thanks again
  4. ......p.s. not too keen on the mn190, I have reservations about the back focus.
  5. on which telescope do you think would give the best image quality (diffraction spikes asside)?
  6. I have shortlisted the Altair Astro 8" RC or the Skywatcher Equinox 120 as my next telescope for use in astrophotography. I am torn between the two!!! and so would like your opinion on the subject. It will go on a neq6 and be used with a canon dslr, with both solar system and dso in mind as targets.
  7. Are there any more newtonian imagers willing to coment?
  8. the 300pds ota is 22.5kg, i think i will have a go... will let you know how things turn out in a few months. thanks for the Merlin66 tip
  9. I am using only 3 counterweights, but point taken thanks
  10. @ simon84 Exactly which set up did you try on the 300p? (the system i had in mind was a TSOAG9EOS , synguider, skywatcher coma corrector and a canon 550d) This cannot weigh more than a total of 3.5/4kg, is it realy that much of a problen?
  11. I need an off axis guider for my skywacher 300pds, any tips as to which is the best to use? (will be used in conjunction with a coma corrector) I know that backfocus is an issue with oag's and newtonians, so am looking for people with some experience imaging in this way. At the moment i am looking at the orion deluxe oag and the TSOAG9EOS. your thoughts please
  12. I cannot chose between getting a explorer 300p on a neq6 or a c 9.25 on a cg5. it will be used most of the time for visual work (only sometimes for photographic use). the size and wieght of the ota are not an issue for me. What would you reccomend, the larger 300p or the (apparently better) optics of the smaller C 9.25. there is also the mount to consider..... hmmmmmmm

  14. the main reason is that i cannot chose between getting a explorer 300p on a neq6 or a c 9.25 on a cg5. so i thought the offer was good for me, but cannot find the page again. (it's the only offer of this kind i have found)
  15. well there's not that much i remember from the site... on the home page it has a big box on the bottom saying that if you want to return your scope within a year of purchase (boxed and in good condition), they will exchange it for another one. its in the south of england (I think).
  16. First a big Hi to everone here (this is my first post to you all) Now,... i have been looking for a telescope shop web page that offers a one year return and exchange offer on all of it's scopes (all i can remember is that it is in the uk). Anyone know the name of this shop?
