Hi folks

To cut a long story short Im looking for a setup to get me started in Astrophotography (with my now resurrected Nikon D70). Budget wise I havnt got a great deal to spend, around the £200 mark and I dont mind if its second hand.

I have absolutely no idea what kind of setups are ideal for astrophotography. Do I go for something small and compact (like the rather lovely WilliamOptics 72mm in the FS section :() or something bigger?

Ive seen some on eBay (not Seben!!) which have got decent reviews by Sky At Night (the Olivon MC105 is one) but was wondering what you folks think of them?

Any advice will be really appreciated.

You are going to struggle with a budget of just £200.

Most important item in astrophotography is a decent mount that can handle a decent payload with no vibration and track the sky with little error.

As Mick has said a £200 budget isn't very much, but its not impossible to make a start in astrophotography on that sort of budget if you already have a camera.

Here are a couple of links that will get you thinking.

Have a read and then come back with more questions!
