Doc
It makes your newt cool quicker, the more your scope reaches ambient temperature the better your views.
Bizibilder
Most folk use a computer type fan (plastic blades in a square casing running off a few volts dc) to draw air across the primary mirror - the idea being that the flow of air cools the mirror quicker than just "still" air. They also have the effect of creating a flow of air through the scope tube thus eliminating internal air currents within the tube that can ruin seeing. There are a few threads on the forum showing how to rig one up - check the DIY equipment section.Try:http://stargazerslounge.com/diy-astronomer/68447-diy-cooling-fan.html

Bizibilder
Computer fans - scrap ones will do as it is usually the rest of the electrics that have died! Just unscrew them and attach a battery - (the voltage will be on the casing). I often use a 9v battery on any old fan - you may have to try a few ways round with the wires to get the right ones to make the blades turn! once it is working then rig it up properly to the scope. If you swap the wires you can reverse the blades (usually!).
