Online Telescopes

I have noticed people mentioning they have used online telescopes from observatories around the world, are these any good, are they free to use and can you suggest any good sites, I would love to have a look. Thanks;)

Hi Tracey,

I use Global Rent A Scope which has telescopes in the USA and Australia. It's not free although you can have a restricted trial on a couple of the scopes which is. The people who run it are very helpful and can be contacted in 'real time' by Skype, email etc.

The Bradford Robotic Telescope is pretty good and free to use.

I have been using the glocal rent a scope as they have a trial period and it is not bad.

My problem is I don´t like subscriptions I want to just buy 20 hours of time I can use as and when I like and unfortunately none of them seem to allow this.

The GRAS was good but it takes all the time you use the scope even if you make a mistake and have to cancel and restart the picture but I suppose this is normal.

You can do this with GRAS - the lowest type of membership. Buy some points with PayPal and then you can use them when you like - you don't have to keep paying each month. Top up when you run low.
