Storage For My New 130P (When It Arrives)!!

As some of you are aware because you helped me with my decision to purchase it, I am awaiting to receive my brand new Skywatcher 130P (with motor) this week.

Just want to ask about storage before it arrives. I have a garage which is used to store boxes etc, but our tumble dryer is also in there. The tumble dryer is near to the door, and we drape the hose outside of the door, but no doubt some steam/condensation gets inside the garage still. So basically will it be alright to store our new telescope in the garage, or would you advise against it?

Anywhere dry is usually ok so long as the tempereature doesnt reach extremes.

A garage can be good as the scope will be close to ambient temperature. Just make usre it has a dust cover of some kind draped over it.

If there's a possibility of condensation/moisture etc. from a tumble dryer, perhaps some silica gel sachets placed inside the OTA whilst the scope is stowed, would help prolong its life.

Hi, i keep my 130 in the garage on the tripod with the tube in the vertical position with the end cap / focuser caps on.

I use a clean bin bag as a cover to keep dust and spiders out.

This way the scope is kept safe from dust / moisture and is nicely cooled to ambient ready for use
