Any guides on using a webcam?

I want to have a go at using a webcam to take images.

I have a SW 130PL on a EQ2 mount, a laptop and a web cam.

So what do I do now lol

What is suggested for capturing the images/video and what do I do with it?

Should apply to most webcams, I use the Phillips SPC900NC for example.

I have a lower spec toucam (PCVC720K ToUCam XS ) but no adapter for it. Not sure well it will work though as its a CMOS chip.

Going to take it to work on Monday and ask the guys in our machine shop if they can knock me one up
