LX200/ Williams Z110 combo

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have any views on piggy-backing a Williams Z110 on a 12in LX200 Classic to make a combo for guided astro-photography.

Thanks

I would be careful off the weight. Especially after you include cameras, counterweights, etc.

I'm guessing you mean the Zenithstar 110. I owned one of these for a couple of years and it is a fantastic scope for visual but for imaging, I needed two extension tubes (one 50mm, one 80mm) and had the focuser almost fully racked out for my camera to achieve focus. Having the camera that far back from the scope brings issues with both flexture and balance plus as Mick has already mentioned, the weight on top of your LX may prove to be a problem too. The FLT110 has the same optics in a much more imaging friendly tube.

Tony..
