Maxim and DSI problem

Recommended Posts

For some reason, I could not get Maxim to connect to my DSI II Pro tonight. Last time out, a couple of weeks ago, I had no problems and I don't think I've changed anything since(I only use the laptop for imaging).

I have an Atik as Camera 1 and the Meade DSI I, II or III as Camera 2. I tried several times, including rebooting the laptop but Maxim would not connect to Camera 2. When I set Camera 2 to No Camera, it connected to the Atik (as Camera 1 still) and everything worked fine.

As an experiment, I started PHD and that was able to connect to the DSI and download images.

What was really strange, was when I set Camera 1 to DSI and Camera 2 to No Camera - Maxim connected but displayed the same data in the two information windows ie as though there were two DSI's connected.

Does anyone recognise this problem? I thought I'd ask here first - I'll go and have a look on the Maxim forum now.

Thanks.

Mike

PS No great loss tonight - clear for about an hour then cloudy

Problem solved.

The Set Up tab for a DSI has a "Camera Id" attribute which has two allowable values "First" and "Second". Mine was set to "Second" - changing it to "First" allowed Maxim to connect. I don't recall setting it to anything at any time and since the DSI is "Camera 2" to Maxim, I didn't think to try changing it.

How it came to be set to "Second" is another matter - either it got changed somehow - certainly not by me, or it used to work with that setting. So still a mystery but at least it connects again now.

Next question - will it be clear tonight? ;)
