Milamber
No - standard 12v cigarette plug comes with most 12v kit. Just plug it into the socket on the powerpack.£55 is pricey...

Breakintheclouds
I'm in the market for a powerpack like this. Does anybody here have recommendations for one that doesn't cost the earth? Also, what sort of capacity (Ah) should I be looking for, to use with a Skywatcher 130P Synscan?

Milamber
So - what *do* you have then if not a car cigarette-lighter-type plug?...one that doesn't cost the earth? Sorry. Half to a third of the A/hr rating is roughly the time you will get as a rule.Arthur
adamsp123
one of thesehttp://www.amazon.co.uk/900-Emergency-jump-starter-compressor/dp/B000TQJTJ8/ref=sr_1_2/279-3683297-3392764?ie=UTF8&s=diy&qid=1254588748&sr=8-2They are 17 AH and come in many guises or should I say labels, all the same so buy a cheap one. I have seen them side by side £10 more for a different brand but the thing was identical.

Highflight
Thanks for the tips: I've ordered the one recommended by Highflight and Adamsp123Just a strong note of warning. DON'T LET THE CHARGE LEVEL DROP INTO THE RED AREA ON THE GAUGE. This will kill the battery and it will be destined for the re-cycling plant. Charge it up for 12 hours before you use it, (it switches off automatically when full), and top it up every 2/3 weeks if you don't use it, and after EVERY USE. Your power pack will last for years as long as you keep it topped up. I've had my previous power pack for 4 years and it's still going strong. All the best and dark skies.Chris. Breakintheclouds
Thanks for the tips - I'll follow your advice. Actually, I once lived on a narrowboat for a while and so have some experience of the vagaries of lead acid batteries!
