Saturday 12th - M71 & M52

Clear skies and no moon early on last night so I took the chance to get out. Was planning to concentrate on globular clusters but seeing was poor so high magnification wasn't possible. Still, I spent some time observing M71 before deciding to move on to some open clusters (including M52).

M71 was very nice at x159, despite poor seeing - a triangular wedge of unresolved starlight crossed by several distinct bands of stars. More detail was apparent than in nearby M56.

M52 was a mass of c. 100 resolved stars, mainly rather faint, but with one distinct clump of stars east of centre and a handful of brighter suns to the west.
