Well they all have their strengths and weaknesses, just like the different types of scope.

Plossls are good general all round eypieces.

Orthscopics (Othos) are good for medium to high power viewing so work well on planets / the moon / double stars etc.

There are a number of wide angle and super wide angle designs which are useful for medium to low power viewing. These designs have names like Erfle, Super Wide, Panoptic, Nagler etc, etc.
