Jupiter 05/09

Looks like part of the "Oval BA" complex to me (Red Spot Jnr)

I took some shots of it last month and got excited as I had never noticed it before :) Jupiter is more dynamic than I expected re changes in the appearance of surface features.

The dark patch is similar to one that is following the GRS last time I looked:) Which was also lots darker than I recall? :D

Nice shots folks :D

......and very helpful to me - I was testing out my newly arrived 5" refractor (I'm a visual person) on Jupiter last night and I could make out this dark mark just above the SSEB - your images confirmed that I was not imagining it !.

During patches of good seeing the scope was shwing me around the same level of detail as Clayton's photo shows.

Thanks for posting.

John
