What would be better?

Hi guys,

I have an Orthoscopic 12.5mm for viewing planets and would like to get a higher power eyepiece such as the 6mm Orthoscopic.

My question is, would it better to barlow the 12.5mm than buy a dedicated 6mm? Would the barlow method give me better eyerelief than a dedicated 6mm? As the Ortho's can get quite cramped at high power.

If you value the eye extra eye relief I'd go for the barlow option.

I agree with John - get a good barlow so it complements the optical quality of the Ortho - the Celestron Ultima 2x for example.

I dont know what the exact eye relief figure is but it's plenty! Not sure if 5mm is more than you want though but I used it in my F6 8" Newt.
