this isnt makign much sense to me at teh moment... I would have expected the problem to be that you dont have enough backward travel on the focusser... and was going to sugest slackening off the adaptor whislt supporting the camera nd moving it back slowly to see if you can get focus...

The diagonal should have provided enough extra distance and may need you to rack the focus inwards to get focus ... when compared to having the camera fitted directly into the focuser ...

Any one else got any ideas?

What did you do with the "barlow" ?

I dont like hannging DSLr's of diagonals its askign for trouble really... and 2" fittings are better than 1.25" as you will have a lot less vignetting...

But for the purpose of the test ... and you can try it in daynight on a distant target just rack the focuser over full travel with the camera connected directly to the scope ... if focus gets better as you rack the focuser out but never gets there rack it back in fit the diagonal and put the camera in there as well and rack it back out... you should get focus on there...
