Turn Left at Orion is a good book to start out with. A lot of people in this forum also use the free planetarium software 'Stellarium' which is excellent for learning the sky and finding objects to look for........ www.stellarium.org The monthly astronomy magazines are also a mine of information for observers. You have the moon and Jupiter waiting for you at the moment and the sky's the limit after that.
