All i need now is a clear night!

Im all excited i have just brought a NG76AZ only a baby scope compared to most you guys lol. Im just now waiting for a clear night to use it! Any tips or hints for it?

Hi Steve yep ive got a couple of books ive had my head into. At least ill have more of a clue of what im looking at when the sky is finally clear lol! Ill have to get that book too. Thank you for the advice.

Good luck tonight with your new scope, if it clears you should get a look at the Moon, thats a good starting point, oh and your scope is bigger than mine.

Thanks Mick Im hoping it will clear tonight. I now have 13 days of work so should get a couple of nights out too. Im not clued up on the sizes of scopes lol

Turn Left at Orion is a good book to start out with. A lot of people in this forum also use the free planetarium software 'Stellarium' which is excellent for learning the sky and finding objects to look for........ www.stellarium.org The monthly astronomy magazines are also a mine of information for observers.You have the moon and Jupiter waiting for you at the moment and the sky's the limit after that.

And if you want a good general reference/star chart book you can't go wrong with good old Nortons (pretty much any WH Smith for about twenty quid)
