irishbloke Posted June 23, 2009 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Saw on SpaceWeather.com -- News and information about meteor showers, solar flares, auroras, and near-Earth asteroids that the sun had a couple of sun spots that you could actually see on the image! The last couple were pretty small. So carted the scope downstairs and out the back for a bit of a look. Very cool, actually I thought I was melting but the sight was cool. The mark near the bottom is either on my camera sensor or on mirror. I zoomed in abit to show the line of spots.The large one had a sort of horse shoe appearance. Also it's good form to give the time (accurate to the nearest minute if at all possible). I had reasonable conditions today & managed this2009 June 23, 1114 UT, 80mm refractor, x4 Imagemate, Baader solar film and solar continuum filter, Imaging Source DMK41 camera, processed in Registax v5 & Photoshop Elements v5.Not a lot more was visible with narrowband filters (hydrogen alpha or calcium K) today ... Settings: ISO 200 shutter speed 1/640Date and time: 23/6/09 19:25 Location near Belfast.
