A simple mount ....

While there are more and more technically sophisticated mounts becoming available my tastes seem to be to go more simple :)

I've now got my Vixen ED102 refractor on a Tele Vue Gibraltar alt-azimuth mount. It's simplicty itself but really well executed. The ash tripod gets the eyepiece up to a nice comfortable height and holds the scope really steady :D

Classic shape and style John.

I love it.

In a few years time after I'm bored with my huge LB I might trade down in aperture and concentrate on observing binary systems.

Yours is a very similar set up to what I have in mind.

Very nice John. I've got a Gibraltar too, with the digital setting circles added (although I haven't used them for ages!). Its rock steady (sorry for the pun!) and is great for my Megrez 90 and I use it with my PST (although its overkill for that really!) The only downside for me is its weight - but stability always comes at a price...

Enjoy!

Helen
