Hi,

I have a kind of love/hate relationship with astronomy, in winter I love it and in summer less so, or any time it's cloudy!

I started off doing visual and had great fun learning the constellations and how to star hop, but I can't seem to wear my glasses at the eyepiece and the eye strain started giving me headaches. Rather than give up I looked into e.a.a and this is a path I'm currently learning.

Hello and welcome to SGL 👍

I can relate to eye strain at the eyepiece, I am 100% visual and also wear glasses and did two things to sort the problem out.

1. Buy eyepieces with long eye relief - I find 20mm best.

2. Buy a pair of binoviewers, these combined with the long eye relief eyepieces make for very relaxed  viewing whilst still wearing your glasses.

Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks for the welcome dweller25.

I did try upgrading to a bit eyepiece having a longer eye relief but I liked to squish my eye right into the eyepiece for a more immersive view, maybe that didn't help!

The e.a.a is a more efficient way I find, it's never long before the clouds roll in and end the session abruptly!

Thanks Sunshine, I knew I wouldn't be the odd one out!

Welcome to the forum, I know what you mean about getting your eye in closer but you may have to research for more comfortable eyepieces, it can be an expensive experiment to get a few you can relax into.
