The new Skywatcher Heritage 130P Flextube Dobsonian telescope has been designed to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy 2009 and the 400th Anniversary of Galileo’s first telescope. The tube is adorned with the names of famous figures that have made significant contributions to the advancement of astronomy over this 400yr period, including Galileo Galilei himself.

All too often telescopes sold at this price-point are little more than toys, more likely to kill any interest in astronomy rather than to encourage. This new easy to setup telescope is different. It uses the same Parabolic Primary Mirror-set as the hugely popular Explorer-130P so will deliver excellent views of 'showcase' objects like The Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, the Orion Nebula, star clusters and the Andromeda galaxy.

Come the next season I bet it sells like hot cakes! At least I hope it does as it is a heck of a lot better than the usual Ebay/photo-store tack offered at its price!
