Yet another Aurora post :) Over Devon this time...

Recommended Posts

Well, last night was certainly something... I had spotted some posts, comments on the possibility of an aurora but down here in Devon we're used to faint green smudges, or a little red on a good day. Anyway, I decided not to go to bed and to take the camera round to a friends just in case there was something. His son is studying photography at college so an aurora pic or two wouldn't have gone amiss.

Not much at first until I turned my camera on and aimed it south to focus on a star... only to see the viewfinder was a little red. That happens sometimes just as twilight finishes, I've seen it in day-to-nights timelapses I've done so I turned the camera north to see a lot of green. All well and good, seen that before. Took me a moment to realise that pretty much the whole sky was lit up and within ten minutes it was visible to the eye. It was unfortunately a bit hazy down here but it could have been overcast so I won't complain.

Here's a couple of pics and a short timelapse from last night.. :)

Awesome James - and that reflection shot is something else. Beautiful. Whah an epic night.

Thank you Paul - unfortunately it was a fisheye shot rather than a reflection.. if I'd pulled that off as a reflection shot I'd be taking about it for decades 😃
